The Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Health Research Development (DOST-PCHRD) thru the Symmetrics Research Consultancy Co. led the development of standardized modules for the Basic Research Methods Course held at Hotel Jen Manila on December 4-6, 2018.
This three-day activity aimed to produce the first set of trainers who are well-capacitated to deliver BRM trainings using the standardized manual produced. Prior to this activity, a regional consultation for the standardization of basic research methods module to be used by RHRDCs for their training courses was held last September 4-5, 2018 at Golden Prince Hotel & Suites, Cebu City.
Said activity was actively participated by Cagayan Valley Health Research Development Consortium members namely, Dr. Julius T. Capili, Executive Director of CVHRDC and Dean of CAHS-CSU Andrews Campus; Dr. Melfei E. Bungihan, Committee Chair and Capacity Building Committee and Instructor of Quirino State University; Ms. Hilaria M. Barsabal, Instructor at Cagayan State University- Andrews; and Ms. Clyde Beth Caraang, DOST 2 SRS II and CVHRDC project leader.
Participating CVHRDC members conveyed knowledge on Basic Research Methods that are divided into 12 Modules which are, Overview of Research Topic, Defining the Research Problem, Establishing the Theoretical and Empirical Basis of the Research, Epidemiologic and Experimental Studies,Sampling Designs, Sample Size Determination, Qualitative Research, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Ethics in Health Research, Administrative Aspects, and Writing the Research Report. The training was administered by PCHRD well-equipped and able resource speakers, Dr. Ofelia P. Saniel and Dr. Ophelia P. Mendoza.
Meanwhile, the CVHRDC delegates were also commended as best presenter during the workshop.
