The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. II (DOST II) through the Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC) in collaboration with the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP) successfully conducted part 1 of Establishing the Ethical Character of Health Research Outputs: Emphasizing Accession to Various Clearances and Permits via Zoom and Facebook Live.
The Webinar started with President Christian R. Guzman, MCNP, Welcome Remarks, and Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, Regional Director DOST II, delivered by Dr. Julius T. Capili, CVHRDC Executive Director on January 19, 2023, via Zoom.
The primary objective of this webinar was to empower researchers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders with essential knowledge. By emphasizing the importance of compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards in health research, we aim to create a more robust and ethical research environment.
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Ilagan Community Service Center, Mr. Arnold M. Preza, discussed the importance and the process of issuance of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) before conducting any research project involving indigenous people (IPs)
On the other side, Dr. Josel Padolino Jr., a Regular Member of the Research Ethics Committee of Southern Isabela Medical Center, discussed how to get an Ethics Clearance and the different levels of PHREB Level Accredit Review Ethics Board.
We are truly grateful for the overwhelming response, with 500 attendees via Zoom and 83 attendees via Facebook Live joining us for this enlightening session.
