The consortium's regional finalist participated in two PNHRS Competitions namely Research Poster Presentation – Student Category and 3 Minute Pitch to Policymaker while other delegates partook in simultaneous plenary sessions and meetings.
The highlights were:
1. Cerene T. Quilang's Research Poster Presentation: A finalist and a graduate of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao City BS in Pharmacy confidently presented her research poster through a closed door to the 3 esteemed board of judges.
2. Jolo R. Galabay's 3-Minute Pitch: Another finalist from Isabela State University-Ilagan Campus, took the stage for the 3- 3-Minute Pitch to Policy Makers segment. This segment highlighted the significance of conveying complex research findings concisely and effectively to policymakers.
3. Appreciation Meeting: PCHRD Executive Director, Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, calls for a meeting to thank and meet all the Regional Project Staff and Coordinators as the backbone of health R&D in respective regions. This was also an avenue to raise concerns of each region.
4. Participation in an educational forum/ResMob Meeting: Other delegates from the consortium interacted with the Benefits and Challenges of AI (e.g chatbots) in Medical Publishing hosted by the Philippine Association of Medical Journal Editors (PAMJE). Furthermore, Engr. Mark Gil S. Hizon represented Region 2 in the Resource Mobilization Meeting.

Day 1| August 8, 2023
The Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC) actively participated in the Day 1 Pre-Conference of the 16th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week Celebration at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City. This 4-day activity with the theme "Sustainable Development: Resilience through Health Research," reflects the collective commitment of health professionals, researchers, and stakeholders to fostering robust healthcare practices.
The highlights were:
1. Dynamic Motorcade: CVHRDC delegates actively participated, drawing attention to the role of health research in creating sustainable and resilient health systems.
2. PNHRS Capacity Building Committee Meeting: This closed-door meeting highlighted the importance of the role of the regional CBC to effectively identify the needs of the health researchers in their respective regions participated by Dr. Ma. Angelita S. Rabanal, Chair of CVHRDC-CBC and 2 CVHRDC Secretariat.
3. Practical Training of Research Ethics Training: Dr. Jason Arnold Maslang and Flordersierra E. Salamanca from Saint Mary’s University, a CVHRDC member institution, participated in the said training.
4. Final Mentoring of CVHRDC contestants: Headed by the Executive Director Dr. Julius T. Capili, the team coached the finalists from the region for the different competitions.

The Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) accepted two health research projects entitled "Health-Related Quality of Life and Health Seeking Behavior of the Residents of Cagayan Province: Its Relation to Health Literacy on the Priority Areas of the Department of Health" and "Responsiveness of Primary Healthcare Facilities in Cagayan Valley Region”, conducted by the University of Cagayan Valley and the University of St. Louis Tuguegarao, respectively.
Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan congratulated all contributors for their dedication, which led to the successful completion of these research initiatives, highlighting the significance of the projects’ potential impact on healthcare delivery and the region's well-being that resulted in their acceptance by the Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC).
 
Moderated by Research Management and Development Head Ms. Carissa Pagulayan, the two research projects were accepted and commended; further shared that one of the recently commissioned research projects, entitled "Determinants of Maternal Mortality in Cagayan Valley", was chosen to be a national finalist for the PNHRS Week 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers on August 9, 2023, to be held in Tacloban City.
 
Subsequently, ARD Mar Wynn Bello expressed his gratitude for the participants' presence and shared the promise of a journey toward innovation and progress in the healthcare sector. “We also hope for future research to be simpler and more beneficial for the development of health in the region and the country”, he added.
The event marked a momentous step forward in the region's research and development endeavors, holding the potential for positive transformations in healthcare and well-being for the residents of Cagayan Province.
 
Present in the program were USL researchers Ms. Rosalie Turingan and Ms. Rosemarie Tadera; UCV researchers Dr. Pura B. Andeng, Dr. Edna Cardenas, and Mr. Orlando Turingan, Jr.; DOST, CVCHD Division Chiefs, and Cluster Heads; and other members of the consortium

In the pursuit of advancing healthcare in the region, the Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC), under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02 and led by the Regional Director Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, has undeniably contributed to nurturing and guiding health research projects.
CVHRDC Executive Director Dr. Julius T. Capili, along with Ms. Lori Shane Busa, the Chairperson for the Research Management Committee, and members took center stage in providing mentoring and coaching to researchers yesterday, July 19, 2023, fueling the growth and impact of health-related studies in the region.
The CVHRDC is a regional consortium in the Philippines that focuses on promoting health research and innovation. Its primary goal is to build a strong and responsive health research system that addresses the region's health needs, supports policy development, and improves the overall health and well-being of the population.
This team comprises experienced researchers, subject matter experts, and industry leaders. They act as a guiding force for research proposals, ensuring their quality, feasibility, and alignment with the region's health priorities.
One of the primary tasks of the RMC is to identify and nurture promising health research projects in the Cagayan Valley region.
Meanwhile, the committee invites researchers to submit their proposals and assists them in refining their ideas. Through one-on-one interactions and workshops, the RMC provides valuable feedback, helping researchers develop well-structured and scientifically sound projects.
Furthermore, the consortium organizes training programs and capacity-building activities to ensure that researchers have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their respective fields.
Through guiding researchers in the application process and providing insights into crafting winning proposals, the consortium increases the chances of project approval and success.
Overall, the CVHRDC continues to empower researchers to address the health challenges of Cagayan Valley, ultimately contributing to the betterment of the community's health and well-being.

Unveiling Strategic Outlook at CVHRDC 2nd Quarter Assembly

June 23, 2023 - Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC) thru the Department of Science and Technology Region 02 (DOST-R02) successfully conducted its Second Quarter Meeting via ZOOM.
The meeting served as a platform for comprehensive discussions on key achievements, upcoming activities, monitoring, giving updates, and strategies to address concerns. Here are the highlights of the meeting:
1. Accomplishment Report for 2nd Quarter: The chair/cochair or a representative from each 5 committees presented their accomplishments based on the approved workplan highlighting initiatives and performance.

2. Status of 8 Regional Research Funded Projects: The meeting provided a platform to review the progress of on-going funded researches. Project leaders and researchers presented their findings, and challenges faced during the implementation.

3.Plotting of Upcoming Activities for 3rd Quarter: Looking ahead, the meeting focused on planning and strategizing for the upcoming 3rd quarter. Several key activities, projects, and events were discussed and mapped out, ensuring a proactive approach to meeting consortium objectives.

4. Update on SEC Registration and PHREB Level 1 Accreditation: Key updates and requirements were discussed, emphasizing the importance of meeting regulatory standards and establishing a solid foundation for future endeavors.

5. Proposed Catch-Up Plans for Unaccomplished Activities for the 2nd Quarter:Acknowledging the importance of addressing any unaccomplished activities, the meeting focused on identifying the root causes and developing effective catch-up plans. Through collaborative brainstorming and constructive discussions, strategies were formulated to ensure the timely completion of pending tasks.

The 2nd quarter meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, determination, and shared commitment to consortium's success. To conclude it all, CVHRDC is taking its footsteps to aid the thirst of Region 2 in finding solutions to health problems and provide S&T services in the locality.
